Is Ebola a Crisis or Not?

Is Ebola a Crisis or Not?

Ebola seems to be on almost all informed people’s minds these days. Well, along with ISIS, illegal immigration, self-appointed jihadists and angry people carrying and using guns and axes.

Yes, we are in a real quagmire in which the more we learn, the more we disbelieve the information; the more we disbelieve the information, the more mired we become in the quicksand of it all.

Here’s what I don’t understand: If it is nearly impossible to catch Ebola, then why is it that people are being quarantined, public transportation vehicles being decontaminated, and some are told to wear full hazmat gear and others such as those two NY policemen, were wearing nose/mouth masks with yellow rubber gloves-both parties entering a confirmed Ebola case victim’s apartment? Both men discarded their “protective gear” in a public wastebasket. Then the fully hazmate clothed twosome arrived and went into the apartment.

I have no credentials in the health field except perhaps should we count my columns about health related issues for two publications? But, then the new “Ebola Czar” has no health credentials either. However, if a disease is classified at Level 4-highly contagious and dangerous; then, why is it that health care workers such as the “nurse/bride-to-be” and the doctor in New York were unaware of the disease’s classification which calls for the most high level of caution and both went on “public traveling sprees”?

Not to mention the “health care worker” who went to Ireland and the other one who went on a cruise-Belize and Mexico refused to allow the boat to dock. I guess since Mexico so graciously allowed 40,000+ undocumented Central Americans to cross their border and escorted them to flood our borders bringing us gifts such as an enterovirus( the strand found in Central America) that has sickened many American children and health compromised people. Mexico didn’t want a return gift of Ebola. Very ungracious of them to refuse our cruise ship from docking.

What a ridiculous and messy world we live in. Up is down and down is up-smacks of 1984 to me. But, I wonder how many school-aged young adults have ever picked up that book? It should be required reading even in Churches. Oh, that’s right, our churches are too busy arguing gay marriage and abortion. Not that those subjects are not important, but at this moment in history…they can take a back seat to Ebola and terrorism.
Anyway, guess I’m getting too cynical or something unsavory but let’s pray (yes, pray) that the cooler weather does not do what I have heard about Ebola…it will become airborne as the weather cools. Not a pleasant thought at all.
Oh, all of the negatives about Ebola being airborne doesn’t explain the difference between airborne and droplet borne-you know, sneezing and coughing stuff-liquids from your nose and mouth. Well, it is droplet borne and contagious.
I’m so glad that I believe in Yahweh and His Promises. Yeshua is coming soon-but not until the major collapse of this system. Do you hear the Four Horsemen in the near distance?

Politically Incorrect in the New America

Politically Incorrect in the New America

In case no one has noticed, we are living in the “New America”. I went to bed one night and felt really good about being an American citizen. However, now I’m getting ready to get in trouble the way Michelle Obama did for a similar statement. I felt really good about being an American citizen until I realized that there is something wrong with being an American citizen.
What is wrong? American laws are no longer in the best interest of American citizens. The new Constitutional interpretations seem to favor the undocumented immigrant…I’m using the PC term because I don’t want to get slammed by using illegal immigrant.
The countries of Mexico, Honduras, El Salvadore, and Guatemala have really pulled a big one on us.
Who has ever thought that the U.S. had a law on the books that prevents us from rejecting people who illegally enter our country? And, that we have sanctuary cities that protect and harbor illegal immigrants? Is that illegal?
Then, we get all emotional because these people have endangered the lives of their children and somehow are making the American people responsible. Who sends their children to a foreign country in the hands of criminals and now cry foul that many of us want to send these children and their parents, aunts, uncles, and friends back to their countries of origin? I can hardly make any sense out of the behavior of these people. Child endangerment is a crime in the United States and far as I know, America did not steal these children. We did not steal 11+ million undocumented immigrants and we are not holding them for ransom.

Okay, these undocumented people are claiming rights in a country that is not theirs by citing the 1964 Civil Rights Act. One problem among many is that native born Black people were protesting for rights that were theirs guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. I don’t want to hear this rally cry, “We are a country of immigrants.” Well, in 2014, we are legal American citizens and those who have violated our immigration laws are undocumented and therefore, illegal-meaning they have broken an American law.

Next, since when is a sovereign nation required to change any of its laws based upon people who have illegally entered that nation? If I want to change anything in America, I stay here in America to legally fight that fight, not go to France or Mexico to protest they give me “rights”. Why does this sound crazy to me? Was there a mass illegal migration of American Blacks to any other country during the time when they were lynched, beaten, and experienced many other indignities too numerous to mention? I missed that part of the Civil Rights struggle. To my knowledge, the answer is no…with the help of some justice-minded American White people, American Blacks stayed home, here in America and fought the good fight.

Dream Acts and any other act that does not uplift the plight of so many disadvantaged American citizens mainly veterans, elderly, and children is not acceptable. We are told that they are escaping gangs, violence, poverty, etc. well, guess what? We have families trapped in places like Chicago and Detroit who are dreaming of leaving these cities so that their children can escape gangs, violence, and poverty…American citizens. Doesn’t charity begin at home? What is Washington thinking when there is so much poverty and crime in America and their focus is on illegal immigrants and their plight?

So, I am not in favor of the New America. I am not in favor of accepting other countries’ responsibilities such as thousands of their children having been deposited on our doorsteps. I am not in favor of accepting the demands of illegal immigrants to take care of them because they chose to leave their home countries. O’Reilly stated a figure that 50% of immigrant families in America are receiving government assistance. I won’t go into the hell I experienced trying to get assistance for my parent after his medicine overwhelmed his paycheck . He had only worked for over 75 years and paying taxes and served in the military.
I am in favor of humane treatment for those illegally crossing America’s border: a hot shower, a meal, change of clothes, immediate medical attention, temporary shelter for no longer than two weeks, and a trip back home to your country of origin. Fight your fight for freedom and rights in your country of origin. I guess this makes me politically incorrect in the New America. May God continue to Bless America…she is in trouble. And, American citizens are afraid to speak up even as they watch their own standard of living disappear. Ah, the New America.

Ready

Yes, I am ready! With the transistion of Dr. Angelou, it hits home that if not now, when? That woman lived her life in the most glorious way. Certainly, she had her trials and regrets, but it is obvious that nothing dampened her spirit. And, if something did, apparently she gave it short notice.

What is the sense of putting one’s life on hold? For what? For who? I’ve had ample time for the gathering of knowledge, experiences, and experiments so that I do have something to say to the world.

We all have voices and for some of us, we’ve waited. Waited on someone to give us permission to become our authentic selves. Well, in case you haven’t noticed, “that permission neither has come nor will it come.” The fact that we “exist” is all of the permission needed. It came with conception and birth. Yet, some of us waited because someone told us to just “wait”.

Now, I’m impatient with waiting. I’m not going to start at the beginning. I’m jumping into the middle and pushing forward. There is so much more to learn and to experience/experiment and to give…yes, pour it out and make room for more. Thanks, Dr. Maya Angelou for showing in such great and glorious detail how life is to be LIVED!!!

New Year New Perspectives on The Creator, Yeshua, and The Holy Spirit

It has been a while since I last posted. Actually, I’ve been thinking about where I want this blog to go. It could just go away, but that is not an option right now. This blog has to count for something other than just a receptacle for my rambling.

What a glorious opportunity to write somethings that may make a real difference. So, with that in mind, I wan to tackle something that is very personal to most people and yet, filled with questions and doubts.

You guessed. Faith and belief. My personal journey is now in a small fellowship called Scattered Seed. We are Torah based Christians. No, we are neither Messianic Jews nor are we trying to convert to Judaism.

We are seeking G-d’s truth and messages to us by going to what we believe is His Holy Word-known as the Bible. Other than my mention of Scattered Seed, all of these posts regarding this subject will be solely of my own searching and conclusions…should there be any conclusions.

I don’t want anyone to judge neither rightly nor wrongly about this wonderful fellowship based upon my opinions. When it is something that belongs to them, I will state that. So, remember, if you read something in this blog that you really dislike, it is not the opinion of Scattered Seed, but the workings of my fertile imagination and understanding. Okay, I think this is enough of a disclaimer.

I’ve been in search mode for a long time about G-d, Yeshua (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit and my relationship to all three or is it the 3 in One? This is a big deal to me, but I won’t write about it just yet.
Anyway, I beleive that is where the blog is headed. A good night’s sleep may make me second guess this decision, but for right now I am going to question and present hopefully, some meaningful insights about this or these relationships with our Creator. I’m not confused about there being a Creator, I believe in Yeshua, and I believe in the existence of the Holy Spirit.
Stay tuned and let me know what you think.

Affordable Health Care Act: Friend or Foe?

Okay, by now, most of us have heard of the affordable health care act or have enrolled. Opinions are flying faster than the Hubble. Some truth and some lies…all with motives and motivations attached.
I wish that the Republicans would have spared us the shut down, the “seemingly” racist rants, and other vile distractions such as Ted Cruz. Come on people, is it really necessary to call the President names and degrade the office of President?
It seems to me that just waiting to see this play out may have served them better than the above activities. Just think, the ill prepared rollout would have been enough for them to disparage the health plan.
Anyway, the most important part of this entire event is: Will this affordable health care act help or hurt?
At first blush, yes, we need to have people paying for their health care. However, this is not possible for many and we who can, end up paying for them anyway. I guess this is why I have questions as to why should the insurance companies profit so outlandishly and outrageously from a federal mandate?
Does anyone really believe that it is a good thing that we are being forced to pay money to a private entity that has regularily discriminated against people with “pre-existing” conditiions and refuse to cover some conditions?
So, now, they must cover “pre-existing” conditions and still, there is something that does not sit well with me knowing that people will be fined for not paying their premium to these insurance giants. Will my doctor fall victim to a high school graduate at an insurance company informing him that I will not be covered for a specific procedure?
What happens if I don’t pay the fine afer I couldn’t afford my affordable care plan?
Will I continue to pay for undocumented people who intentionally do place a burden on the healthcare system?
These are just a few things that cause concern. Of course, time will tell with many of the questions we all may have.
Let’s hear what others have to say.

Voting Rights and Double the Educational Loan Interest

Just when I thought things were bad, now they are worst. How can I put my head in the sand and pretend that all is well when it looks as if the middle class and minorities are taking not just one crushing blow but the double hit?

I can’t pretend that in 2013 there are no issues with race and both of these new “blows” strike at the heart of minorities and the middle class which includes a lot of America. I believe that I undertand the social plan…a little slow on the pick-up. If America’s poor, middle class, Black and White are not educated, it affirms the rumor in the world that we are a bunch of non-deserving sluggards with no ambition but to procreate and watch sports while drinking a cheap beer.
Then big business may hire at lower wages the educated- in -American schools foreigner who really wants to work. Well, some Americans really want to work, too. But, living here, they want a living wage. And, now with the double loan interest, things are looking mighty slim towards getting that degree or advanced training.

Now, I don’t dislike big business, but it seems things have changed with their mindset. Their grandfathers and fathers invested heavily in their industries. They employed millions of people who were able to forge better lives than ever before. Now, outsourcing and off shoring the wealth seems to be the tule of the day.

No, big business is not mandated to “take care of the people”, but investing in America seems a good way to show that you still care…or do you? I guess those resorts in Saudi, Qatar, Cayman Islands, etc. all sound so much better for retirement away from what America is fast becoming.

Voting rights a thing of the past. Wow! Who saw that coming? Obviously, not the people who will be affected the most: the young, elderly, and the poor and middle class of this country. I saw no advanced warnings on the ticker at the bottom of my tv screen, no screaming headlines, no news analysts with their expert guests raving about it. Why? It just quietly slipped by just as the doubled educational loan legislation.

Why? It is too simple. What politician wanted millions of screaming people ready to storm their offices demanding justice? Not one of them, so they just slipped it under the radar and vethe news outlets have no incentive to give us the real news. We are busy watching Paula Deen and the Zimmerman trial, neither of which will directly affect us as much as the repeal of voting rights legislation and doubling educational loans. I say this with all due respect to the Martin’s loss of their child, and Deen losing the empire that she worked so hard to establish.

So, where do we go from here? I wish that I knew. Do we have opinions about these two issues? Maybe some of us feel that it is about time to make sure those we consider “too dumb to vote” and those “too poor” to be educated are permanently locked out. What do we think? I really would like to know just to prove that we are not all asleep at the wheel of a speeding car. Impact Imminent. Result: DOA.
